Did You Know Indian Was Once The Largest Motorcycle Manufacturer In The World
When most people think of early American motorcycles, Harley-Davidson usually comes to mind first.
But there was a time when Indian Motorcycle was actually the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world.
Founded in 1901, Indian became famous for producing reliable, powerful motorcycles that were sold across America and exported around the globe. During the early 1900s, the company dominated racing, endurance events and long-distance record attempts.
Models such as the Scout and Chief became legendary and helped establish American motorcycling culture long before many modern manufacturers even existed.
Although the company eventually disappeared for many years, the Indian name remains one of the most recognised and respected brands in motorcycle history.
If you could add one classic Indian motorcycle to your garage, would it be a Scout, a Chief or something else?
