Did You Know The Triumph Bonneville Got Its Name From A Land Speed Record
One of the most famous names in motorcycling wasn't chosen by a marketing department.
It was inspired by speed.
In the 1950s, Triumph motorcycles achieved success on the famous Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, where riders set a series of impressive land speed records.
To celebrate those achievements, Triumph introduced the Bonneville model in 1959.
The name quickly became legendary and the Bonneville went on to become one of the most recognisable British motorcycles ever built.
More than 65 years later, the Bonneville name is still being used, making it one of the longest-lasting model names in motorcycle history.
Not many motorcycles can claim a direct connection to world speed record attempts and still be on sale decades later.
If you could have any Triumph Bonneville in your garage, would it be a 1960s classic, a 1970s model or one of the modern versions?
