The Kawasaki ZX-12R debuted in 2000 with no top-speed limiter and an 1199 cc, 178 bhp inline-four. In 2002, Kawasaki introduced a restricted version limited to 186 mph in response to the voluntary speed cap. The early 2000–01 models remain especially collectible in the UK, while later versions still offer impressive performance and value.

In the UK, the early unrestricted ZX-12Rs (2000–01) typically sell for £3.5k–£5.5k in rider-ready condition and up to £6k–8k for top-tier examples. The restricted later versions (2002–06) usually sell between £3k–£4.5k, with the best specimens reaching £5k–6.5k. Condition, mileage, and model-year context strongly influence value.
