Did You Know The Moto Guzzi V-Twin Design Dates Back To The 1960s
Moto Guzzi's famous transverse V-twin engine is one of the most recognisable motorcycle designs ever created.
Introduced on the V7 in 1967, the engine was originally developed to meet a requirement for a new Italian police and military motorcycle. Engineer Giulio Cesare Carcano designed the 90-degree V-twin with the cylinders sticking out into the airflow, creating a layout that provided excellent cooling and easy maintenance.
What is remarkable is that more than half a century later, Moto Guzzi still builds motorcycles based on the same distinctive engine configuration.
While many manufacturers completely redesigned their engines over the decades, Moto Guzzi stayed true to a design that became part of the company's identity.
One glance at those cylinders sticking out either side and most enthusiasts know exactly what they're looking at.
Have you ever owned a Moto Guzzi, or is it a motorcycle you'd like to try one day?
