What Is A Vehicle Inspection During Registration?

Most imported motorcycles are registered without any inspection, but in some cases DVLA may ask to inspect a motorcycle before issuing a registration number.

An inspection is usually carried out to verify details such as the frame number, engine number, age of the motorcycle, or to confirm information supplied in the application.

If your motorcycle is selected for inspection, there is usually no need to worry. It does not automatically mean there is a problem with the application. It simply allows DVLA to confirm the motorcycle matches the paperwork provided.

One of the best ways to avoid delays is to make sure frame numbers are clearly visible, paperwork is complete, and photographs are available if requested.

Have you ever had a motorcycle inspected during the registration process, or has every application gone straight through?
