Why Dirty Electrical Connections Cause So Many Strange Faults
Classic motorcycles rely on dozens of electrical connections to keep everything working properly.
The trouble is that many of these connections have spent years exposed to moisture, vibration, dirt and corrosion.
A connection may look perfectly acceptable from the outside but still create resistance that causes problems. Dim lights, weak ignition spark, charging issues, intermittent faults and unreliable starting can often be traced back to nothing more than a poor connection.
Before replacing expensive parts, it is often worth checking connectors, earth points, fuse holders and battery terminals.
A few minutes spent cleaning and protecting electrical connections can prevent hours of fault-finding later on.
It's one of the simplest jobs in the workshop, but one of the most overlooked.
What is the strangest electrical fault you have ever traced back to a bad connection?
