What is an age-related registration number?

This is a question we are asked regularly.

An age-related registration number is a registration mark issued by the DVLA that reflects the age of the motorcycle.

When the age of an imported motorcycle can be established, the DVLA will often issue an age-related registration number rather than a newer registration mark.

This helps preserve the motorcycle's identity and ensures the registration is appropriate for its year of manufacture.

The age of the motorcycle will normally need to be supported by suitable evidence.
