Why Old Brake Fluid Causes Expensive Problems
Brake fluid is one of the most neglected maintenance items on classic motorcycles.
Unlike engine oil, brake fluid often sits unnoticed for years. The problem is that it absorbs moisture from the air over time, even when the motorcycle isn't being used.
As water content increases, corrosion can begin inside the master cylinder, brake lines and calipers. Seals can deteriorate and braking performance may suffer long before any visible problems appear.
Many long-stored motorcycles require brake system attention before they are safe to ride. Fresh fluid and a thorough inspection can often prevent far more expensive repairs later.
When was the last time you changed the brake fluid on one of your motorcycles?
