The Ducati 748, introduced in 1994, was the smaller-capacity sibling of the legendary 916. Sharing its frame, styling and chassis, the 748 offered a revvier character and became popular on UK roads and race tracks. Today, early 748 Biposto, SP and SPS variants are increasingly collectible, particularly in original trim with factory paint.
Condition | 748 Biposto / Strada | 748 SP / SPS | Example External Source (plain text) |
---|---|---|---|
Project / Restoration Non-runner, incomplete, or requiring full recommission. |
£2,500 – £3,500 | £3,500 – £4,500 | eBay UK — tired 748 Biposto projects £2.7–3.2k. Car & Classic — occasional SP projects under £4.5k. |
Roadworthy / Presentable Running, tidy examples; some cosmetic wear, common aftermarket exhausts. |
£4,500 – £6,000 | £6,000 – £8,500 | Iconic Auctioneers — 1998 748 Biposto sold £5,750 (May 2023). Car & Classic dealer asks £6–8k for SP versions. |
Restored / Excellent Low-mile, very original or concours-quality restorations; SPS models with provenance. |
£7,000 – £9,000 | £9,000 – £13,000 | Bonhams Stafford — 1999 748 SPS sold £11,500 (Apr 2024). Dealer listings 2025 asking £9–12k for top SP/SPS models. |
Notes: Standard Biposto/Strada models remain affordable but are climbing steadily. SP and SPS homologation versions command strong premiums, particularly with UK history and originality. Restored or unmodified bikes are the safest investments; heavily modified track bikes trade lower.
As of September 2025, Ducati 748 values in the UK typically sit around £2.5–3.5k for projects, £4.5–6k for roadworthy Bipostos, and £7–9k for excellent/restored Bipostos. SP and SPS versions trade higher at £3.5–4.5k (projects), £6–8.5k (roadworthy), and £9–13k (restored/excellent). Provenance and originality push bikes to the top end.
