Some Pre 80s Japanese Manufacturers like Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki and some others from European like BMW and Ducati

In 1981, the 17-character VIN was standardized.

The letters I, i, O, o, Q, and q are not valid to avoid confusion with the numerals 1 and 0.
