Date: November 2025
Yamaha’s FJ series arrived with the FJ1100 (1984–1985) and evolved into the FJ1200 (1986–1990s), becoming one of the UK’s definitive big-bore sport-tourers. Strong engines, comfort and real-world pace keep them popular. UK values track condition and originality more than year, with FJ1200 examples generally achieving slightly higher prices than FJ1100.
| Condition | FJ1100 (GBP) | FJ1200 (GBP) | Evidence (UK — Sold vs Asking) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Project / Restoration Non-runner or off the road; recommission needed; cosmetics tired. |
£400 – £900 | £450 – £1,000 | Sold (UK): 1985 FJ1100 project sold £400 (Apr
2025, Mathewsons). Sold (UK): 1987 FJ1200 no-reserve project sold £460 (H&H). Sold (UK): 1991 FJ1200 ABS combination (needs MOT/recommission) sold £632 (Manor Park). Asking (UK): Multiple project/rough listings typically £900–£1,200 (eBay/Car & Classic samples). |
| Roadworthy / Presentable Running and usable; MOT present or recently lapsed; honest wear. |
£1,200 – £1,900 (est.) | £1,300 – £2,200 | Sold (UK): 1991 FJ1200 “old school tourer”
sold £826 (Manor Park). Sold (UK): 1996 FJ1200 ABS sold £2,100 (May 2024, Mathewsons). Asking (UK): Typical tidy FJ1100/FJ1200 classifieds £1,300–£2,300 (Car & Classic, late-2025). Note: FJ1100 mid-tier relies more on asking data; far fewer recent UK hammer results than FJ1200. |
| Restored / Excellent Very original, low-mile, or high-quality restoration; strong paperwork. |
£2,000 – £3,000 (est.) | £2,300 – £3,000 (est.) | Asking (UK): Clean dealer/private FJ1200s
commonly £2,000–£2,600; best up to ~£3,000. Asking (UK): Nicely presented/restored FJ1100s advertised £2,000–£3,500+ (condition dependent). Verified hammers above ~£2,300 remain scarce; top band shown as estimated from sustained asking trends. |
Notes: UK buyers value originality (fairings, exhausts, paint), documented mileage, and history files. ABS-equipped later FJ1200s and very clean low-mile bikes can command a premium. Sidecar combinations trade lower than solo bikes on average.
As at November 2025 in the UK, projects for FJ1100/FJ1200 commonly change hands at £400–£1,000 depending on completeness. Roadworthy/presentable bikes are typically £1,300–£2,200, with verified FJ1200 hammers up to ~£2,100. Truly excellent/restored examples are most often advertised in the £2,300–£3,000 corridor; confirmed UK hammers above ~£2,300 are currently limited, so the top band is shown as estimated.
